갤러리 플래닛에서는 깊어가는 가을 런던을 기반으로 활동하는 아티스트 크리스트자나 윌리엄스 (Kristjana Williams)의 전시회를 개최합니다.
이번 전시는 전통적인 위스키 로얄살루트의 새로운 패키지 디자인 작업에 크리스티자나가 협업을 시도하면서 영국 왕실의 유산을 기리고, 혁신 가치를 접목한 새로운 패키지 출시를 기념하는 특별한 전시회를 이기도 합니다.
한국 최초로 시도되는 미술 작품과 예술적 위스키를 함께 경험할 수 있는 전시로, 이번 전시의 대표 작품인 로얄살루트 브랜드 아트웍은 영국 왕실에 현존하던 로얄 메나주리를 수작업으로 콜라쥬해서 재현한 작품으로, 영국식 품격과 럭셔리에 고유의 위트를 만나볼 수 있습니다.
런던에서 활동중인 아이슬란드 예술가 크리스트자나 윌리엄스(Kristjana Williams)는 자연에서 영감을 받은 다채롭고 매혹적이며 복잡한 일러스트와 독특하고 장난스러운 트위스트로 전 세계에 잘 알려져 있습니다. 그녀는 영국 센트럴 세인트 마틴스 예술대학에서 그래픽디자인과 일러스트레이션을 전공한 세계적인 현대 미술가입니다.
그녀의 작품 속 오브제들은 어린 시절에서 비롯됩니다. 마치 색과 풍경이 세상 어디에도 없는 것처럼 완전히 상반된 느낌을 선사합니다. 각 작품은 아이슬란드의 어린 시절부터 영감을 얻은 것들에서 태어나고 자란 식물, 분위기 및 동물의 우주를 느낄 수 있습니다. 특히, 런던탑에 위치한 왕립 동물원과, 고객의 감탄을 자아내는 로얄살루트의 유니크한 역사에 감명받은 윌리엄스는 놀랄 만한 컬러와 스타일, 그리고 위트를 이번 대표 작품에 담아내 로얄살루트만의 장엄한 매력을 정교하게 표현해냈습니다.
11월 4일부터 11월 18일까지 진행되는 아시아 최초의 전시에서 풍부한 유산을 한층 더 컬러풀하고 현대적인 감각으로 탄생시킨 크리스티자나의 작업세계를만나보시기 바랍니다.
This Fall, Gallery Planet is holding an exhibition by a London based artist, Kristjana S. Williams. This exhibition is also a special exhibition to commemorate the launch of a new package of Royal Salute. Kristjana collaborated in designing a new package for the traditional whiskey of Royal Salute. This will be the first exhibition in Korea where you can experience both the history and art of Whiskey. Especially, the brand artworks of Royal Salute are hand collage reproductions of the Royal Menagerie that existed in the British Royal family.
London-based Icelandic artist, Kristjana Williams is best known for her colorful and intricate illustrations inspired by the nature around her. She is a world-class contemporary artist with a degree in graphic design and illustration from Central Saints Martins College of Art in England. She finds motifs from the objects originated from her childhood. The colors and landscapes she paints create completely opposite feelings, as if they are nowhere else in the world. In particular, Kristjana Williams was impressed by the Royal Zoo located in the tower of London, and the unique history of Royal Salute moved her forward to create artworks that best represents the solemn charm of Royal Salute.
