<Cool Memories>

Gallery Planet is holding , an exchange exhibition between Korean and Philippine artists to introduce newly emerging Southeast Asian modern art to Korea and to present Korean artists abroad at the same time. Participating artists from Philippines include Julius Clar, Ernest Concepcion, Patrick Cruz, Oscar Villamiel, Joseph Tecson, Jason Tecson etc who are in their 30s experimenting in various fields of painting, photograph and sculpture. Prior to this, there was another at Light and Space Contemporary in Manila, Philippines from June 13^th to July 15^th which introduced Korean artists including Ahn Jun, Lee Seungah, Shim Ahbin and so forth. The name of exhibition originates from a noted French sociologist Jean Baudrillard’s writing ‘Cool Memories’ series published from 1980 to 2004 and in this book with articles in the form of diary, Jean Baudrillard shows how to perceive the world with fragmented materials without any core or certain viewpoint. Like his writing, this exhibition intends to display Philippine modernity in various works including reproduction through photograph or abstract painting. Hopefully, this exhibition will be an opportunity to feel unique sensitivity of Philippine artists expected to grow up with their potential.
