Hur Boree
허보리는 제한된 캔버스 프레임 안에 유화로 꽃과 풀과 같은 식물을 가득 채우는 작업을 한다. 작가에게 식물이란 반복적인 순환의 패턴을 살아가는 인간과 같은 일상의 삶을 살아가는 존재들이다. 아침에 피우고 저녁에 지는 꽃들을 바라보며 죽음을 향해 달려가는 존재의 허무가 아닌 현재를 충실히 살아가는 일상의 다양한 감정과 에너지를 표현하고자 하였다. 작고 무심한 듯한 붓질로 묘사된 꽃에서 애잔함과 가슴을 움직이게 하는 미묘한 은유의 메세지가 전달된다.
서울대학교 서양화과를 졸업하고 동대학원에서 석사 학위를 받았다. 갤러리 플래닛, Pialux, 세움 아트 스페이스, 헬리오아트, 갤러리 나우, 이랜드아트로 등에서 10회 이상의 개인전을 하였으며 서울대 미술관, OCI 미술관, 양평군립미술관, 서울시립미술관, 성남아트센터 미술관 등에서 다수의 단체전에 참가하였다. 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 미술은행, 셀트리온, 곤지암 리조트, 한국은행, 주식회사 삼천리 등 다수의 기관에서 작가의 작품을 소장하고 있다.
Hur boree works by filling plants such as flowers and grass with oil paintings within a limited canvas frame. To the artist, plants are beings who live a daily life like humans who live a repetitive cycle pattern. Looking at the flowers that bloom in the morning and wither in the evening, She tried to express the various emotions and energy of daily life faithfully living the present, not the futility of beings running towards death.
Hur Boree graduated from Seoul National University’s Department of Fine Arts and its graduate school. From her surrealistic early works that metaphorized various emotions of everyday life to objects, she has been talking about people living intense lives. Since 2018, she has been working on equating the life energy of plants with human desire and obsession with life. She has held more than 10 solo exhibitions at Gallery Planet, Pialux, Gallery Now, and E-Land Artro, and participated in numerous group exhibitions at SNUMOA, OCI Museum of Art and Seoul Museum of Art. Many institutions, including National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Celltrion and the Bank of Korea, own the artist’s works.
